Description

The SmartBoard by PM Power Products is a wireless  802.11 b/g/n compliant device that provides a long-lasting battery-powered sensor that can monitor a closure or open from another device or connected sensor and is used in a variety of applications.  To save battery the SmartBoard is powered off unless an event occurs on the monitored device or to send a heartbeat to StaffAlerter. The estimated battery life is 2-3 years without having to be recharged depending on application and configuration.

ESD Precautions

The StaffAlerter / Contact Notifier contains highly sensitive electronic circuitry and is an Electrostatic Sensitive Device (ESD). Handling the StaffAlerter / Contact Notifier without proper ESD protection may destroy or damage it permanently. Proper ESD handling and packaging procedures must be applied throughout the processing, handling and operation of the  StaffAlerter / Contact Notifier. Failure to observe these precautions can result in severe damage to the  StaffAlerter / Contact Notifier.

Installation

The SmartBoard comes in an enclosure that is ready to mount if desired with the included double-sided adhesive pad.  The battery for the SmartBoard is a 3.7V LiPo Battery that can be easily replaced or recharged when the battery gets below 3.1V.  The included PH 2.0 connector can be attached to the device to be monitored depending on the application.

If installing the device in an electrical workbox inside of a wall, it is recommended that the battery be checked at a minimum of every month for any signs of wear or defects.

Network Requirements

The SmartBoard is a wireless device that utilizes the 2.4Ghz wireless band and is compatible with 802.11 b/g/n networks.  The device requires outbound internet access, no port forwarding needs to be done.

All units are preconfigured for the customer's wireless network and preregistered to the customer's StaffAlerter site to minimize issues and increase ease of deployment

Port Requirements

Depending on the customer's wireless network there may be issues getting the device to connect reliably.  All devices are preconfigured and tested based upon provided information.  Troubleshooting wireless network issues are not the responsibility of PM Power Products and if assistance is required time spent is billable.

Configuring the SmartBoard for a different SSID

Step 1 - Putting the SmartBoard into discovery mode

  1. Briefly press the "Wake" button (Button above the Battery connection) until the LED lights up at the top center of board, then press and hold the button until a blue fast blinking light appears. (This should take no longer than 10 seconds.)

Step 2 - Connect to the bluetooth device
