Overview

The StaffAlerter Desktop application server two purposes. The first is to provide an easy way to configure the StaffAlerter Integration Server and enable a maximum of (10) quick action buttons from the desktop application to send audio messages over PA systems, SIP based phones and SIP based phone systems using multicast, or the ELG iPECS Phone System utilizing the Flexible Page feature . When using the messaging portion of the StaffAlerter Desktop application broadcast messages both custom and canned can be sent to all users or groups of users also using the Desktop application. These messages force a window to take over the screen and display the message to the user.

The second purpose of the StaffAlerter Desktop application is to provide a desktop application that integrates with StaffAlerter Cloud services. This enables a maximum of (10) quick action buttons from the desktop application to send an event to StaffAlerter which can then trigger additional actions as desired. When using the messaging portion of the StaffAlerter Desktop application broadcast messages can be sent by users or activated from StaffAlerter Cloud in a broadcast to all users or groups of users also using the Desktop application. These messages force a window to take over the screen and display the message to the user.

When paired with StaffAlerter Cloud services the desktop application provides additional functionality including but not limited to adding calls, sms text messages, email notification, push messaging, local relay control, remote relay control, sensors, and automation.

The StaffAlerter Desktop application can be used with both the StaffAlerter Integration Server for local actions and also connected to StaffAlerter Cloud services at the same time. This allows for local actions and desktop messages to be sent no matter the state of the connection to the internet, providing local failover in case of an outage.

Support for (1) optional 4-Channel relay controller has been added to the StaffAlerter Desktop and Integration Server. This allows for a button on the desktop application when pressed to also activate one or more relays for a set period of time or toggle the relay state. Adding support for this relay controller allows a customer to initiate actions such as trigger a zone on an alarm panel, override an access control system locking all doors, or activate an audible alarm.
